As all of you reading this will no doubt know by now, the world was hit with some very sad news on Sunday when it was announced that beloved television host Alex Trebek had passed away. Trebek, who battled pancreatic cancer for years, was a Canadian icon but would go on to touch the lives of millions upon millions of people from all across the world thanks to his world famous program Jeopardy!.

Given his legacy and impact, especially in the Canadian market, it came as no surprise to me to see an outpouring of love from the hockey community, all of it of course directed at Trebek and his family. Although it is indeed sad to lose such a wonderful human being in the world, I hope all of you will take solace in the fact that an outpouring of love of this magnitude just goes to show what a full and incredible life Trebek led.

Here are just a few of the examples I have collected since the news broke earlier today:

New Jersey Devils' defenseman P.K Subban had the best one in my opinion, he tweeted out a rather amusing interaction he had with Trebek along with his condolences.

Several other players kept it short and sweet, merely offering their condolences. That list included Jimmy Vesey, Tony DeAngeloCarlo Colaiacovo, and Justin Bailey, with no doubt several more doing so as well.

Teams like the Habs also sent their condolences, both in French and in English, to the Trebek family.

Much to the credit of Ottawa Senators owner Eugene Melnyk he quickly put together a personalized message that he released via the Senators website.

"Alex was a true and much beloved Canadian icon, and a very special member of the Ottawa Senators family," said Melnyk as per NHL.com. "We will always be grateful to Alex for the special role he played in announcing the Senators' first draft choice this year. For his legions of fans, Alex's class and professionalism will endure as will his love for our game. Thank you, Alex, for your legacy. The Senators family and the entire Capital Region will miss you."

Last but not least the National Hockey League's Alumni Association sent out their condolences with an old photo of Trebek alongside legendary Maple Leaf Tie Domi.

I sincerely hope at least a few of these made you smile on this sad day.
