The last man to lead a Canadian team to a Stanley Cup Championship is going through a very difficult time.

According to a report from the Canadian Press, Jacques Demers, former head coach of the Montreal Canadiens and current member of the Quebec's Senate, has suffered a stroke and is currently recovering in hospital.

Demers is best known by hockey fans for leading the Canadiens to their last Stanley Cup win, all the way back in 1993, but he also made national headlines back in 2005 when he revealed that he was functionally illiterate, something that given his incredible level of success in life made him one of the ultimate underdog stories in Canada.

There's been no word yet on what kind of condition Demers is currently in at this time, but if more information is made available we will pass it along.
