The latest update on Jonathan Quick does not sound good at all.

We finally got an update on the status of injured Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick today and the news doesn't sound good at all.

Quick was initially scheduled to miss three months as a result of his injury, and today during a media scrum, roughly two months into Quick's recovery, Kings head coach Darryl Sutter was asked for an update on Quick. Here's what the head coach had to say:

"He’s still very much in the rehab mode," said Sutter as per L.A. Kings insider Jon Rosen. "They’re still talking about a month before he could even begin to say what that next step was. It’s not in this [calendar] year before there’s any sort of update."

One more month would put Quick on his original timeline, and it's appears that the implication in Sutter's comments that he does not expect Quick to be ready by then, but rather expects to merely have a better idea of his progress at that time.

This is obviously very disappointing news for the Kings fan base, but the silver lining here is obviously the surprising performance of Peter Budaj as a replacement in Quick's absence.
