The Leafs in trouble with this newly acquired forward?

When acquiring Eric Fehr from the Penguins before the deadline, Lou Lamoriello thought about adding depth and experience to his lineup. Many initially thought this was a brilliant move. 

However, according to reports heard on Toronto 1050, the team could be in trouble with regards to the salary cap for the 2017-2018 season. The analysis comes from James Mirtle of The Athletic T.O.

Fehr has one year remaining on his contract, with a 2M$ cap hit. Although the number is not that high, it could lead to the team trading away one of Leo Komarov, Tyler Bozak or even James Van Riemsdyk to gain some cap space. The plan would be to hire a skilled and reliable defenseman during the off season.

Toronto has a bright future ahead but managing the cap will be crucial so the young core can grow into a dominant force in the NHL.
