The Maple Leafs may have lost one of their best trading chips.
This seems like a major mistake.

You have to wonder if the Toronto Maple Leafs made a major mistake by putting him out on the ice tonight, especially when you consider the circumstances surrounding him. Then again hindsight is 20/20.
One of the Maple Leafs best remaining trading chips was the contract of soon to be unrestricted free agent P.A. Parenteau, however one would imagine that an injury would either cause teams to cool off him completely, or even in the best of cases, would cause his value to drop significantly.
Despite that and despite the fact that he had previously left practice due to soreness, the Leafs made the decision to play him this evening, a decision that would see Parenteau play briefly before eventual being forced to leave the game, he would would not return.
The first question that came to mind when hearing this news was how it will affect any trade discussion involving him, and perhaps even do the Leafs regret playing him? According to a report from Sportsnet's Chris Johnston sitting him was never an option for head coach Mike Babcock.

I asked Mike Babcock yesterday if there was any thought to sitting a player for this game because of trade scenarios. His answer: "No."
