The Minnesota Wild have walked away with a brand new player without giving up anything at all.

The Detroit Red Wings organization took a big gamble this week when they placed young and talented forward Teemu Pulkkinen on waivers and that gamble has backfired horribly for them. That's because it was revealed on Tuesday that the Minnesota Wild had swooped in and picked up Pulkkinen after placing a claim for him on the waiver wire.

While he had his ups and downs in the Red Wings organization, something that obviously led to their willingness to place him on waivers, there's no doubt that he has a decent ceiling, and just last season despite being hampered by injuries he recorded 1 point every three games, not bad at all for a player who cost you nothing.

It's unclear how the Wild will use him, but he can develop even into a quality bottom six talent this will be a major steal for Minnesota.
