The NHL finally got something right!

For all the odd changes to the game that your hear about to make hockey more exciting and to make there be more goals, one change seems to be getting all the praise.

The 3 on 3 overtime has definitely been a huge success. Fans and people who cover the game alike have had nothing but good comments about it. It is extremely exciting and gets everyone out of their seats.

A perfect example is the game last night between the Montreal Canadiens and Philadelphia Flyers. The first 60 minutes were quite boring with tons of mistakes and turnovers. Not really worth the ticket price. Then queue 3 on 3 overtime. The excitement went through the roof with both teams having some great chances and both goalies making some big saves. The Montreal crowd who was pretty quiet all night, came alive and the Bell Centre was rocking. Both Habs and Flyers fans were out of their seats for the whole overtime.

This was just one of the examples of how 3 on 3 can inject excitement into a game. Teams have started to learn how to take advantage of so much extra ice and the smallest mistake can cost you an extra point. It has made fans almost want overtime every game. It really has been a great change without touching the integrity of our wonderful game.
