The NHL verdict on Mike Hoffman!

It's still hard to figure out what went into Mike Hoffman's mind when he delivered his nasty cross-check to the head of Logan Couture 2 days ago. Obviously the Sharks needed to pay for Marc-Edouard Vlasic's spear on Erik Karlsson but come on, that was a bit too much don't you think Mike ?

The NHL finally ruled out a 2 games suspension for Hoffman who won't be available for the Senators' back-to-back game this weekend (saturdayagainst the New-Jersey Devils and sunday against the New-York Islanders).

"That said, we agree with Hoffman's assertion that his stick rides up the stick of Dillon slightly which may contribute to this cross-check being delivered to Couture's head rather than his upper-back. Ultimately, players are responsible for their sticks at all times and when a player attempts to intentionally use his stick to deliver a blow to an opponent he could not necessarily be excused of all responsability when the blow lands on an unintended place."

The Department of Player Safety also took into account the fact that Hoffman has never been suspended nor fined.
