The Oilers on the verge of a transaction?

A core player on the go? What would want in return?

After a rough patch between 25th of November and the 9th of december in which the Oilers won 2 of their 9 games, the Oilers are back on track and maintained their 3rd spot in the Pacific Division... Thanks to Connor McDavid who's at the top of the scoring leaderboard.

For Jordan Eberle, things have yet to get back on the rails as the forward scored once since the first of december. Eberle fell down on the Oilers' 3rd line with Benoit Pouliot and Drake Caggiula, something one could perceive as a huge demotion.

The former first round pick in 2008 once was at the core of Edmonton's offense with 3 seasons over 60 points but his production decreased since the coming of McDavid.

"For me, and this isn’t a slight against Jordan Eberle, but his play hasn’t been good enough. And because of that, as you say, he’s been demoted to the third line. What’s next if things don’t improve – does he become a fourth-line player for the Edmonton Oilers?" said Darren Dreger.

“So when you start seeing signs like this, then – look, I’ve been around the league long enough to know how most (team’s executives) think, and I’d be surprised if Chiarelli doesn’t get calls in the days ahead here just inquiring about Eberle."

Dreger noted the price for Jordan Eberle would still be high and that the Oilers could be looking to improve their defense.
