The Pittsburgh Penguins know the value of adding role players at the trade deadline.

While the Pens could look to add a defenseman at the trade deadline, there is one forward that the team could attempt to acquire in the hopes of gearing up for a repeat.

Despite the return of star forward Evgeni Malkin, the Penguins have dealt with some injuries up front.

Forwards Carl Hagelin, who was diagnosed with a concussion last week, and Conor Sheary remain sidelined. The team could use some insurance and someone capable of chipping in both offensively and defensively, while aiding their porous penalty kill.

The Vancouver Canucks are shopping pending UFA Alex Burrows, who fits the bill for the Pens.

The longtime Canucks winger is considered a valuable playoff player, having racked up 34 points through 70 career playoff appearances. He is also considered one of the better penalty killers on his team, and could help the Penguins in that facet of their game.

Burrows might not be a game-changer for the Penguins, but if Hagelin, Nick Bonino, and Bryan Rust proved anything last year, it's that championship teams need their role players.

Burrows could help the team during their eventual playoff run.
