It was roughly eight months ago that the the tragic bus accident that claimed the lives of sixteen individuals and injured 13 others in a small Saskatchewan town rocked the hockey world.

The Humboldt Broncos of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) were on their way to a playoff game against the Nipawin Hawks when the team’s bus collided with a semi-truck trailer, killing sixteen people including 10 players and two coaches.

In the aftermath of the crash, the team was unsure if it would ever play again, let alone during the 2018-19 SJHL season. Yet, there they are at the top of the league’s standings.

In his latest column for Sportsnet, NHL insider Frank Seravalli does a tremendous job of filling hockey fans in on everything that has transpired in Humboldt this season and what this team means to a grieving community.
