The Red Wings release timeline for Niklas Kronwall's recovery.

The Red Wings got some encouraging news on the injury front tonight after one of their core defensemen suffered a worrisome looking injury yesterday.

Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland announced Sunday that defenseman Niklas Kronwall will miss one-to-three weeks with a knee injury, Ansar Khan of MLive reports.

Kronwall was sandwiched between two of his teammates during Saturday's win over the New York Rangers, and fell awkwardly to the ice after twisting his knee.

According to Sportsnet's Damien Cox, Kronwall had an MRI on the injured joint and Kronwall told Khan that he did not believe the injury was very serious.

The veteran defenseman has already missed 15 games this season with a similar knee ailment. The 35-year old has recorded 3 goals and 17 assists in 52 games this season, while leading the Red Wings in ice time, averaging 22:41.

Good to know that the Wings' won't be long without him, as he is an essential piece of the Red Wings' defensive corps.
