The Wild lose crucial player long-term.

It appears the Wild have lost a player because he sacrificed his body for the good of the team.

Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin will miss three-to-six weeks after suffering a broken foot, general manager Chuck Fletcher announced Saturday.

Brodin blocked three shots in 17:47 of ice time in the Wild's most recent game - a loss to the New York Rangers. It is unclear when the injury occurred, only that the result is the worst case scenario for Brodin.

The 22-year-old has struggled, recording just one assist in his past 26 games. He has one goal and five assists on the season and is a major ice-time contributor. If he had hopes of turning his slump around, they have all but been dashed by this diagnosis.

The Wild also announced forward Tyler Graovac was recalled from Iowa.
