Tonight was game 2 of the series between the Ducks and the Predators in Anaheim. Following a game 1 win for the Preds, many expected the Ducks to fight back hard, and they sure did. However, one very interesting statistic explains why the Preds couldn't build a reasonable comeback attempt late in game 3. 

Winning faceoffs is absolutely vital in this era's league. Thing is, faceoff statistics are rarely talked about. It's much more interesting to talk about slick goals and amazing saves, but it's all integrated in the strategies needed to win. 

The Preds couldn't win a facebook in the offensive zone late in the third and it's exactly why they couldn't build a decent comeback chance.
