This prospect is making waves with management.

Danton Heinen is surprising both the veterans and coaching staff alike, having scored in every one of his three preseason games. It’s no surprise he hasn’t been cut yet. Now the question isn’t if he’ll make the roster, but rather, how will he make it?

“He is young, but he’s shown that he can put the puck in the net, he can give those second and third battles,” said Backes after the 4-3 victory (against Philadelphia). “You love to see that from the young kids and he’s making tough decisions for the management and the coaching staff and that’s a good problem to have coming out of camp.”

With Frank Vatrano out until Christmas due to surgery, the Bruins may consider using Heinen’s services to fill the void. With his performance in the last games, and ability to play both the right and left wing, his flexibility will be an advantage to the team.
