It felt like the San Jose Sharks were fighting for Joe Thornton since the start of the postseason, hoping to reach the Stanley Cup final and hoist the prestigious trophy before he could hang up the skates.

However, the St. Louis Blues had other plans. The Blues went on to win three consecutive games to advance to the franchise's first Cup Final since 1970.

Now, we wonder if Thornton will be back next year to try and make his dream of being a Stanley Cup champion a reality before retirement. However, when asked about his future after the 5-1 loss on Tuesday night, Thornton surprised everyone with his answer.

The veteran was asked if he had thought about his future and his answer was simply: Nope.

Say what? He has to know what to do next... And fans hope for a return.

He did go on to have classy answers when asked about the team’s injuries and the reason for the loss, but no word that could clarify what he meant the talking about his future.

"I am not going to put our loss on injuries, we played a great team and they beat us".

Thornton will turn 40 on July 2nd, a day after he will become an unrestricted free agent. It remains to be seen if he could be back with the Sharks next seasons, or even, if he will be back at all in the NHL…

We all hope we can see more of Joe on NHL ice.
