Over two dozen NHLers have been placed on waivers today as teams continue to whittle down their rosters for the beginning of the 2019-20 regular season.

Among the most prominent players on the waiver wire today are Montreal Canadiens veterans Dale Weise and Karl Alzner. Alex Petrovic and Brendan Gaunce, both with the Boston Bruins, are also intriguing names out there.

For the full list on today’s demotions among skaters, see below:

Three goaltenders were also placed on waivers today with Calgary Flames netminder Jon Gilies and Christopher Gibson and Jared Coreau of the New York Islanders joining him.

Check it out:

Among the three, Gillies seems the most likely to receive a waiver claim despite a poor season with the AHL’s Stockton Heat in 2018-19. Gillies put up a dreadful 3.51 goals against average and a woeful .889 save percentage in 45 games last season. In the season prior though, he put up a 2.53 GAA and .917 sv % in 39 games. Not bad. Not bad at all.

Any takers?
