While at the end of the Los Angeles Kings season it sounded a lot like bruising forward Milan Lucic would re-sign as a member of the Los Angeles Kings, those talks have apparently died down, and now one insider has named three markets where he belives Lucic could end up.

According to ESPN insider Pierre Lebrun, Lucic is still hoping that L.A. will be the place he signs, so first on the list has to remain the Kings, but Lucic knows that may not be possible.

Lucic, I’m told, would still prefer to re-sign and remain with the Kings but has also begun to accept and be comfortable with the possibility of heading to market July 1. He’s ready for either scenario.

So if not L.A. then where? Well Lebrun believes two teams offer a level of familiarity that Lucic would embrace. The first being his hometown team, the Vancouver Canucks, who have long been rumored as a club with huge interest in acquiring Lucic, and with him as a free agent they may finally get their chance.

When it comes to July 1, two of the targets I believe for Vancouver are hometown boy Lucic as well as Loui Eriksson. They’d love to get one of those guys. Eriksson would be a perfect fit with the Sedin twins. But Lucic would be a popular move, too.

The second team on this list was a major surprise, the Edmonton Oilers, but Lebrun points to the connection with former Boston Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli, as well as the possibility of playing alongside one of the most exciting young stars in the game today.

I also think Edmonton Oilers and former Boston Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli would have significant interest in Lucic if he hits the market. Hey, there are worse things than riding shotgun for Connor McDavid, right? Lucic would be a great fit there.
