Two very tough men collide.

This one will be well remembered by long time fans of the National Hockey League if only due to the sheer level of star power involved in it.

For this throwback we are going all the way back to 1988 for a match up that took place on the 22nd of March between the Detroit Red Wings and the Edmonton Oilers. It was a game that would feature a clash between two men who had not only faced one another before, but two men who even to this day are among the most well known enforcers in the history of the sport of hockey. I am of course referring to former Detroit Red Wings enforcer Bob Probert and former Edmonton Oilers enforcer Marty McSorley.

Not only was this a showdown between two huge names in the sport but it also proved to be an epic confrontation between them, one that would tax both men to their limits. McSorley and Probert both threw their punches with ill intent behind them and threw plenty of them at that, so many in fact that you could clearly tell that both men had winded themselves somewhat with their offensive barrages. To their credit the National Hockey League officials that were overseeing this one let them go for a very long time, although that may have been entirely due to the fact that no official in his right mind would be willing to risk the damage that could come from trying to step in between these two.
