Tim Stutzle shares heartbreaking message after the passing of Alex Trebek.

On Sunday the world learned of the passing of legendary television host Alex Trebek and although I, like many of you, was very sad to see a man I grew up watching pass away I do take comfort in the absolutely amazing outpouring of support I have seen today.

From every walk of life and from every part of the world we have seen an outpouring of love for Trebek and although I may have simply missed it I haven't seen a single negative comment about the man, in spite of the fact that this is the internet we're talking about. There have been all kinds of messages but there was one message in particular that stuck out to me today and unfortunately it was because of just how heartbreaking it was to read.

One of the many people that Trebek had a direct impact on was young National Hockey League prospect Tim Stutzle. Stutzle came into contact with Trebek when the Jeopardy! host made a surprise appearance at the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, this in spite of suffering from a terminal pancreatic cancer, and selected Stuzle on behalf of the Ottawa Senators with the 3rd overall pick in the draft. Stutzle wasn't on hand of course due to the pandemic, but the smile on his face when the cameras showed his reaction was unmistakable. Unfortunately for Stutzle he will never get to meet the man that drafted him into the NHL, a regret that he went out of his way to make note of in his message today.

From Stutzle:

I am deeply sorry to hear about the death of Alex Trebek. I was looking forward to meet the person who drafted me. He shared this unforgettable moment with me and I am very thankful for that??
With my deepest condolences ?
REST IN PEACE MR.TREBEK

Unfortunately Stutzle will never get the chance to meet the man who was a part of what will no doubt go down as one of the important moments in his life, and all I can say is that is terribly sad.

I don't want to leave you on a depressing note however, so I will leave you with some of the happier messages I have seen from people from around the NHL and the world today.

This one perfectly summed up the impact Alex has had on millions of people around the world.

Here was my personal favorite, perhaps only because I could not help but smile.
