When St. Louis Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo hoisted the Stanley Cup at TD Garden last night he erased 52 years of frustration for Blues fans. As a hockey fan, how can you not LOVE moments like this:

The tradition of having the team captain accept the Cup from the league commissioner goes back decades and it has provided hockey fans with some ionic images ever since.

Who can forget the look of pure joy on Alex Ovechkin’s face when he lifted the Cup for the Washington Capitals last season? Or how about big Zdeno Chara when the Boston Bruins defeated the Vancouver Canucks in 2011? Again… iconic moments.
