Although it was reported several weeks ago that NCAA defenseman Casey Nelson appeared to be leaning towards one more year of school, that situation may have now changed.
According to a report from Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Nelson has already begun fielding offers from National Hockey League teams, although of course Nelson still has the option to return to the Minnesota State Mankato for one more season.
In the two full seasons he played with the club, Nelson recorded 13 goals, 42 assists and was a +33 over 80 games, and was recently named defensive player of the year in his league.
There's been no word yet on what teams are pursuing Nelson, but as a young and skilled defenseman with a right-handed shot he's likely to have several suitors.

Hearing Minnesota St D Casey Nelson -- one of top available NCAA FAs -- is listening to NHL offers. Can go back to school for one more year.
