Top NHL insider addressed trade rumors regarding William Nylander!

Bob McKenzie discussed William Nylander’s trade rumors.

Back at the trade deadline, few rumors from insiders were suggesting Leafs could trade William Nylander to acquire a No. 1 defenseman.

“Also (Leafs coach Mike) Babcock at times has been blunt about how he hasn’t always been thrilled with some of the things that Nylander does out there. He’s got a little bit of (Alexei) Kovalev in him. Kovalev was an artist, a tremendous player and sometimes as great as he was, he did things that the team was like, ’You know Alex, we wish you’d do it this way.” Said Friedman at the time to justify the rumor.

However, TSN’s insider Bob McKenzie was categorical on Toronto 1050 TSN radio: “As best I can tell, any William Nylander trade talk or trade rumors were entirely media-driven.”
