Top prospect and World Junior gold medalist Alexis Lafrieniere has been suspended three games but the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMHJL) for an illegal hit to the head.

The top ranked draft eligible prospect has put up historic numbers this season for the Rimouski Oceanic, scoring 37 goals and 105 points in just 61 games. He, of course, also starred for team Canada at the World Junior Championships earlier this month, scoring a ridiculous four goals and 10 points in just five games.

Here is the hit in question that earned Lafrieniere a three game ban:

Honestly… I get why Lafrieniere is being reprimanded, you can’t deliver a shoulder to the chin in this day and age, but… does the player getting hit bear no responsibility these days? How can you fiddle with a puck in your feet at center ice and NOT expect to get rocked? Get your head up, brace yourself and play the game like a man.

Maybe I’m just too old school for today’s game, but I have absolutely NO problem with a player getting lit up if they’re looking at their feet in the middle of the ice. Get your head up or get ROCKED. End of story.
