According to a unverified, unconfirmed report from an anonymous online account, 19 year old KHL forward Pavel Shen is expected to terminate his contract with Ufa Salavat Yulayev, paving his way to sign an NHL contract with Boston Bruins.

Check it out:

What’s surprising about this development isn’t so much that Shen is terminating his agreement to come to North America, but rather that the Bruins would be interested in signing him in the first place.

At first blush, Shen does not seem ready for the NHL. The teenager was selected in the 7th round (2012th overall) in last summer’s 2018 NHL Entry Draft and has done little to impress in the year since. Shen has two KHL campaigns under his belt and neither was particularly productive. He also split the time between the top league, second league and junior league in Russia.

In the KHL, Shen managed just a single assist in 20 games last season. He managed three goals and four points in seven games at the 2019 World Junior Championships, however.
