Torey Krug will make his return, but the Bruins lose another player to injury.

The Boston Bruins are set for a big return to the lineup on Saturday night but unfortunately the good news comes with a sprinkle of bad news as well.

On Saturday morning Boston Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy met with the assembled members of the media to discuss his lineup changes for Saturday night's contest against the Minnesota Wild. There were a surprisingly large number of changes to the lineup for the Bruins today although I suppose that does make some sense given that the Bruins will be playing at home tonight in front of their home crowd at TD Garden arena. 

First, the big news. Cassidy informed reports today that veteran defenseman Torey Krug will be making his long awaited return from injury today, a hugely important moment for the Bruins this season. Not only is Krug an essential piece of the Bruins core roster but he is also in the final year of his current deal and will be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. This will be a critical time for the Bruins to evaluate which direction they will be moving in with Krug and the more time he has on the ice the better it will be for general manager Don Sweeney to make that assessment. 

There were a few other changes to the roster as well with Bruins veteran Brett Ritchie suiting up this evening and Steven Kampfer also making his way into the lineup. Unfortunately those moves will also necessitate that the Bruins open up some spots on their roster and it will be  Connor Clifton who will be sitting on the sidelines this evening as a healthy scratch in order to make room. The Bruins however will also be down another player, but in this case it will not be a voluntary substitution on the part of the Bruins.

Bruce Cassidy also informed members of the media that Par Lindholm's injury has forced him out of the lineup for today's game against the Wild, and it sounds like it could possibly cost him more games as well. Cassidy told reporters that Lindholm "has a pretty big gash" which he suffered on Thursday during the Bruins game against the Buffalo Sabres.

Last but not least, it will be Jaroslav Halak who gets the start in goal this evening for the Bruins.
