Toronto media overhypes Muzzin trade in ridiculous promo
TSN

There’s no denying that the Toronto Maple Leafs’ acquisition of defenseman Jake Muzzin from the Los Angeles Kings has made a strong team even stronger.

By acquiring Muzzin without giving up a roster player, Leafs general manager Kyle Dubas has done a tidy bit of business and has really helped solidify his team’s defense heading into the stretch drive of the 2018-19 regular season. But… c’mon… it’s only Jake Muzzin guys. Let’s not get nuts here… last I checked Muzzin isn’t breaking the puck out like Bobby Orr…

Still, try telling that to Toronto based sports broadcasters like TSN who put out this ridiculous hype clip after the Muzzin trade:

Apparently the Muzzin acquisition is a “500 ft upper deck homerun by Dubas.” Ok then…

Could you imagine the reaction if the Leafs had acquired any of the other defensemen rumoured to be in play on the trade market? Had they traded for Alex Pietrangelo from the St. Louis Blues it would have gone down as the biggest trade in NHL history…

Look, Muzzin is a great player and Dubas made a great trade… no doubt. But… just cool it, TSN. You wonder why the rest of Canada has a chip on their shoulder about the Leafs? It’s hype like this…
