The Toronto Maple Leafs are such a refreshing team, they have so many young talents blossoming in the organization that they might let go their leading scorer?

According to Pierre Lebrun, James Van Riemsdyk name has been mentionned in the trade chatter recently. Asked if the Leafs could let go JVR, Lebrun said Toronto will at some point look to improve their blueline and if it's the price to pay, he might be the one to go but he speculates it would be closer to the trade deadline than right now.

Van Riemsdyk has been on fire recently and is on a 82 points pace if he stays healthy. The chemistry he developped with Mitch Marner could avort any sort of rumors in the near future. His contract is also team friendly, carrying a cap space of only 4.25 Millions and will comes to terms in 2018.

Needless to say, Toronto has plenty of options with JVR and keeping him might be the best, but plenty of interesting defensemen are on the market : Jacob Trouba, Kevin Shattenkirk or Cam Fowler.
