According to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet, the Colorado Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes are putting the finishing touches on a trade that will see forward Carl Soderberg and defenseman Kevin Connauton change locales.
The details of the trade are not yet known. Stay tuned.
Suffice it to say though, this appears to be a salary dump on the part of the Avalanche though as Soderberg carries a hefty $4.75 million price tag for next season. He’ll become a UFA in the summer of 2020, however.
Again, stay tuned for more info.
UPDATE: Darren Dreger of TSN has confirmed that the trade has happened.
Again, details to come but it appears that Colorado will clear over $4 million in cap space with this move.
Dreger's TSN colleague confirms that the deal is Connauton and a 3rd round pick for Soderberg.
