Trade Alert: NHL team reportedly trades its former captain
Zuma Press

This just in according to Carolina Hurricanes insider Luke DeCock of the Raleigh based News & Observer the Hurricanes and Anaheim Ducks have a deal in place that will see former Hurricanes captain Justin Faulk headed to the Ducks for... well we're not exactly sure just yet.

Check it out:

It’s not yet known what the return is for the 27 year old Faulk, but if indeed the Ducks are sending Ondrej Kase back in the deal it seems like a steal fore the Hurricanes. The 23 year old Kase put up 11 goals and 20 points in just 30 games with the Ducks last season and put up 20 goals in just 66 games a season ago.

To be fair though, Faulk is no offensive slouch himself. The offensive blue liner put up 11 goals and 35 points in 82 games with the Hurricanes last season and hit a career high 49 points in 2014-15.

While Faulk’s name has been mentioned in trade rumors for awhile now, it’s no surprise that things have heated up more now with the Hurricanes signing Jake Gardiner on Friday. With Gardiner now on board, the Hurricanes blue line features Faulk, Gardiner, Dougie Hamilton, Jacob Slavin and Brett Pesce. Something’s got to give…

Again, no word on what the Ducks might be shipping to the Hurricanes in return for Faulk, but it’s worth noting that the Ducks have over $8 million in cap space. Absorbing Faulk’s $4.8 million annual salary won’t be an issue for the Ducks.

Again, no confirmation on this deal from the team’s yet, so stay tuned for updates.
