The San Jose Sharks are set to begin the Stanley Cup Final on Monday, the first in the franchise's history since joining the National Hockey League, and despite that the team is still doing it's due diligence when it comes to looking towards their future.

The Sharks and the Detroit Red Wings have announced that they have come to terms on a minor detail that will send left wing prospect Dylan Sadowy to the Red Wings in exchange for their third round draft pick in the 2017 National Hockey League Entry Draft.  Sadowy has spent the last four seasons of his career in the OHL, and in his most recent season with the Barrie Colts he put up 36 points in 28 games.

It's interesting to note that the Sharks lost their third round pick in 2018 by making the Cup Final meeting the conditions of a conditional draft pick trade with the Maple Leafs. This is merely speculation, but it may have been a motivating factor in this deal.
