Trade Rumor: GM denies highly rumored veteran has asked for a trade.

Shane Doan spent his whole career playing for the Arizona Coyotes. With the NHL trade deadline that comes every year, it's almost been a tradition to associate Shane Doan to trade rumor. This year again, few insiders send Doan to some contending team but the Arizona Coyotes GM John Chayka denied that his veteran has asked for a trade by March 1st.

"To date we've talked quite a bit and I've left it that if he has a belief that it might be in the best interest for himself and his family to try and take a run at the Stanley Cup I'm open to having that discussion with him." Chayka said. "I wouldn't be fair to Shane not to have that discussion. I respect him too much to no have it. Having said that, he hasn't told me to explore these opportunities and look into things. He's happy with being a coyote. He signed here for a reason. He's only played here ever. That's where we're at today." Chayka said to Dan Rosen of NHL.com on Friday.

That being said, that doesn't mean he won't be moved. At 40 years, he would certainly enjoy taking part in the playoffs and retire as a winner.
