TRADE RUMOR: Heartbreaking roster choices incoming for Oilers

Peter Chiarelli will have a lot on his plate in the coming weeks.

Now that the Oilers are officially eliminated from the Stanley Cup race, many questions arise about what their starting lineup is going to be next season. Peter Chiarelli will definitely have a lot on his plate in the next few weeks.

We have already have devoted plenty of time on speculations surrounding Jordan Eberle and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. However, they are not the only players whose roster spots are at risk with the Oilers.

We know how tight the salary cap is going to be for Chiarelli. What is he going to do? Marc Fayne's contract has become a burden on the organization, and he is clearly not in the team's future. But it is fair to believe nobody would want to trade for him (except, perhaps, Las Vegas?).

Benoit Pouliot is at a crossroads as well: he has been a valuable asset during the playoffs, but he still has two years left at $4 millions which is, again, too expensive.

Pat Maroon, Darnell Nurse, goaltender Laurent Brossoit or Griffin Reinhart could be valuable trade assets for Chiarelli to improve his team.

We will have to wait and see, but this is certainly going to be an interesting summer in Edmonton.
