Mike Bossy, legendary winger, key member of the New York Islanders 1980’s dynasty, and one of the greatest 100 NHL players of all time, dropped a huge bombshell regarding the future of the Washington Capitals' roster.

In an interview with 91.9 Sports, Bossy weighed in on the Capitals roster and their upcoming salary cap issues:

"I don't think they'll exchange Ovi, but players like Kuznetsov, Williams, Backstrom, Oshie could go", Bossy said.

With the Capitals sitting less than $40k under the Salary Cap, something is going to have to give in their lineup next season.

It’s obvious that Ovechkin is untouchable, but there isn’t really a name of that list that the Capitals would like to part ways with.

Who do you keep? Who can you keep?

Kuznetsov: 24-years-old, entering Restricted Free Agent status, currently making $3 million a season. Scored 19 goals and 40 assists for 59 points this season. Has 182 points and 53 goals in 261 games with the Capitals.

Williams: 35-years-old, entering Unrestricted Free Agent status, currently making $3.25 million per season. The veteran winger scored 24 goals and 48 points this season, his second with the Capitals.

Oshie: 30-years-old, pending UFA, currently under contract for $4.175 million per season. Scored a career high 33 goals and 56 points this season, his second year in Washington.

Backstrom: 29-years-old, under contract at $6.7 million per season through 2019-20. Scored 23 goals and 63 assists for 86 points this season, has 188 goals and 728 points in 734 career games with Washington.

While keeping a young talent like Kuznetsov seems obvious, it could cost the team two very talented players in Williams and Oshie. The thought of moving Backstrom is unpalatable to any long time Caps fan, but he does have a ton of trade value despite his high price tag. Tough calls to make, no matter how you look at it.

Regardless of how far the Capitals go in the Playoffs, it could be a drastically different team come October.
