The Carolina Hurricanes will complete another disappointing campaign on Saturday as they get set to host the Detroit Red Wings. Captain Eric Staal has been with the squad since 2003-04 and has one year left on his $57.75-million, seven-year contract. However, he may not be with the team after the contract expires. "No contract talks," he told Kurt Dusterberg of NHL.com. "I'm not worried about it to be honest. I'm not sure what their plans are or what lies ahead." The Hurricanes haven't made the playoffs since 2008-09 and there are likely changes coming in the offseason to address this issue. The 30-year-old, who's seen his production slip over the last three seasons, would be willing to waive the no-movement clause in his contract if he was asked to. "Depending on where I was being shipped off to," said Staal. "If it came to that, for sure." Staal is confident someone will offer him a job if the Hurricanes don't want his services. "I know I can play," he said. "I'm going to play in this league for a lot more years. So if they don't want me here, I will play somewhere else. But I care about a lot of people in this organization and these fans, so I would like to be part of getting better and taking another step. But if they don't feel I'm part of that, then you obviously take a look at other roads."
