There were rumors that a meeting took place between Winnipeg Jets general manager  Kevin Chevaldayoff and player agent Kurt Overhardt but they are rumors no longer.

According to a report from TSN insider Gary Lawless, the agent for Jets defenseman JAcob Trouba has confirmed to him that the meeting did in fact take place, however when asked for details about the reason behind the meeting Overhardt merely told him it was "status quo."

As a restricted free agent who has demanded a trade, teams would obviously want some sort of guarantee that regarding the type of contract Trouba wants and his willingness to sign with their team for the long-term. As a result much of the speculation has been that this meeting was for that very purpose, although it remains just speculation even after Lawless' report this morning.

Lawless also asked Overhardt if he had looked into places for Trouba to play should he remain unsigned after December 1st, the limit for a new contract, but according to Lawless he refused to comment.

We will continue to monitor this developing story.
