The Toronto Maple Leafs have been involved in several trade rumors this season but nearly all of them have been shut down by one source or another, now however we have some concrete evidence that some talks are in fact going on.

According to a report from Chad DeDominicis of the Fourth Period, the Leafs sent not only a scout, but also assistant general manager Kyle Dubas out to attend the match up between the Buffalo Sabres and Calgary Flames on Monday night.

There's still no indication whatsoever as to why it was considered so important that the presence of Kyle Dubas, one of the highest ranking members of the Leafs from office, was required live in attendance, but it has certainly raised a great many eyebrows.

The biggest rumors around the Leafs this season have all involved James van Riemsdyk, while as far as the Sabres are concerned all the talk has been around Evander Kane. The Flames have been heavily involved in rumors as well but that is more due to the fact they have had such a poor start to the season.

More to come on this developing story.
