The preseason statistics won't stick around for long, but it is certainly encouraging to see your favorite team do well before the start of the regular calendar. However, the Washington Capitals are not doing as well as expected and coach Barry Trotz had some strong words for his players after Friday night's game.

Alex Ovechkin and his teammates are not producing as much as Trotz expected and he was very clear about it in his post-game comments.

The Caps were outscored 21-8 in the first six of the preseason contests. Washington again mustered just one goal in a 3-1 loss against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday night.

Like most NHL fans, Trotz is relieved that the game do not count for now, but hopes his team will be able to adjust for the start of the season.
