It may sound like good news for the Boston Bruins, but fans close to the action know there is more to it.

Last week when star goalie Tuukka Rask announced that he would skip on the 2020 All-Star Game in St. Louis, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly commented that the goalie would need to serve the one-game mandatory suspension given to player who refuse to attend the event, like Vegas Golden Knights’ Marc-Andre Fleury and Washington Capitals’ Alex Ovechkin.

However, the Bruins have placed Rask on injured reserve on Thursday due to a concussion.

Rask left the Bruins game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday after he was elbowed in the head by Blue Jackets forward Emil Bemstrom, who was skating by the crease.

When asked about the suspension and Rask’s injury, Daly informed TSN’s Frank Seravelli that Rask won’t have to sit out the one game if the concussion keeps him out.

“The obligation is to sit out a game either going into the break or coming out of the break. If his injury forces him to do that, there is no ‘suspension’ per se.”

At this point, we bet Bruins fans don’t care if Rask sits out one game: they simply want him back as soon as possible and better than he looked on Tuesday night after the collision.
