Two serious injuries may leave the Boston Bruins shorthanded when they start the 2016-2017 season.

First, and the most severe of the two, defenseman Torrey Krug underwent surgery on his right shoulder, and according to the Bruins will need a whopping six months to recover and rehabilitate. With that timeline it's very possible that Krug could sit out games in October.

Another Bruin also needs surgery, center David Krejci will have his hip repaired, and he is expected to miss the next 5 months in order to fully recover from yet another major injury. Krejci could be back in time for the start of the regular season, but based on the timeline from the Bruins it sounds like late it will be an early October return for Krejci.

Even when both men do return, it will likely be after having missed a great deal of their offseason preparation, and one has to wonder how effective they will be initially coming off two major injuries.
