The Montreal Canadiens announced today that Peter Holland and Daniel Carr will report to the Laval Rocket training camp after they cleared waivers today, per Pierre LeBrun of TSN.

Chris Terry, the team’s points leader last season, also cleared waivers recently and is expected to lead a stacked team. Zach Redmond and Matt Taormina also cleared this week after an underwhelming camp in Montreal. Byron Froese is also expected to be sent to Laval.

With Nikita Scherbak, Michael McCarron, and recently signed Jakub Jerabek all reporting to Laval, there are lots of reasons to be optimistic about the Canadiens’ farm team, despite coach Sylvain Lefebvre’s less than stellar record with the club.

Marc Bergevin has loaded up the team with some of the best the AHL has to offer both up front and on the blue line, and several key prospects will have the chance to hone their craft with veteran players such as Holland, Taormina, Terry and Redmond.

Brett Lernout, Martin Reway, and Daniel Audette will all benefit greatly from these players’ presence on the team, giving this team a legitimate chance to contend for the first time in years. A winning culture is key to developing prospects, and Bergevin seems to have finally understood that by surrounding the kids with experienced pros.

With Charlie Lindgren likely starting between the pipes, the Rocket will be a feared team this year.
