Two more talented veteran defensemen could soon be traded.

The rumor was everyone was waiting to see who the Jets would sign before making moves, and less than 24 hours after Dustin Byfuglien was signed, the Leafs and Senators announced a major 9 player deal that sent Leafs' captain Dion Phaneuf.

Now as you can imagine, defenseman are at a premium in the National Hockey League, and the word is that general managers in need of help on the blue line are now hard at work to see what options are left available to them, and two names continue to come up.

The first name, and arguably the most valuable of the two players in New York Rangers' defenseman Keith Yandle, although as of right now his availability is somewhat in doubt with the injury to Ryan McDonaugh. From Sportsnets' Elliote Friemdan:

With Dustin Byfuglien off the market, your best bet for offence from defence is Keith Yandle. But can anyone see the Rangers considering it until Ryan McDonagh’s situation clears?

Yandle played 27:33 Saturday and 25:19 Monday. Not only were those his highest totals of the season, they were tops on the team in two critical wins. It’s hard to see New York staying afloat with both gone.
The second name is veteran defenseman Dan Hamhuis of the Vancouver Canucks, and although we believe Hamhuis is available he comes with a different kind of concern attached to him. Hamhuis is coming back from a devastating injury, and there are reports that teams want to see him play some games before pulling the trigger. However according to Friedman one team in particular may view him as the final piece of the puzzle for their Stanley Cup run.
Another defender we’re going to start hearing more of is Vancouver’s Dan Hamhuis. There was some speculation over the weekend Washington is a sensible destination due to his long history with Barry Trotz.'
Regardless of Washington's interest, after the moves over the last two days the price for veteran defenseman may have just gone up simply due to supply and demand.
