We have two reports that while not directly pointing to the same deal certainly have some major correlations between the both of them.

First, just this morning during an radio interview in Montreal TSN insider Darren Dreger revealed that Colorado Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic had conversations with a Western Conference GM about trading his captain.

“Landeskog is interesting to me," Dreger said as per Nichols on Hockey. "I don’t believe that Joe Sakic really wants to move him. But what I know is that there was a trade conversation between Joe Sakic and a Western Conference general manager prior to the draft lottery and Landeskog’s name was included in it. And it was believed that a defenseman had to go back the other way to Colorado as part of a package. Then it just seemed to fizzle."

While that report was shy on details, fellow insider Bob McKenzie piggy backed on that report and added a very interesting piece of information to the mix, pointing to a potential player for player deal.

“My colleague at TSN, Darren Dreger, has reported over the last number of weeks that in the summer, the Avalanche were working on a trade to try and get Jacob Trouba out of Winnipeg and that the piece that they would have used in order to do that was Gabriel Landeskog.”

McKenzie and Dreger are two of the best in the business, so this is certainly one worth paying attention to.
