In case you missed it, the New York Islanders officially confirmed yesterday that two time Stanley Cup winning forward turned assistant coach Scott Gomez is no longer with the organization.

Islanders insider Andrew Gross of Newsday was the one who broke the news yesterday.

The Islanders have not confirmed whether or not Gomez left on his own volition or not, but Gross speculates that the team’s hiring of former Toronto Maple Leafs assistant coach Jim Hiller essentially pushed Gomez out.
