Two very big debuts for the Minnesota Wild tonight.

It's only the second preseason game for the Minnesota Wild, but there is a level of excitement around this one that you don't usually get in the preseason.

Not one but two very intriguing players will be making their Minnesota Wild debut this evening the first being former 2015 first round draft pick Joel Eriksson Ek, and the other being recently acquired forward Eric Staal.

Both men are centers, and the hope is that they will be able to provide the Wild with some quality depth up the middle, although it's fair to say that expectations for both men have been tempered. Staal is obviously the biggest gamble here, after a relatively poor 20 game stretch with the Rangers, he will need to bounce back to earn the top six minutes he is looking for.

Joel Eriksson Ek on the other hand has spent his last two season in the Swedish League, and at 19 he has a long hard road ahead if he hopes to impress enough to make the NHL roster, but at the very least it will provide the Wild and their fans to view one of the best prospects in their system.
