One way or another some big changes are coming to women's hockey in the United States.

The women of USA Hockey's female program have threatened to boycott the upcoming IIHF World Championship, and while USA Hockey set a 5 pm deadline to reach a resolution, the women have opted to let that deadline pass them by.

“I don’t think any of us even flinched,” said two-time Olympian Jocelyne Lamoureux-Davidson as per USA TODAY Sports. “We saw this as a formality.”

The women feel they have been underpaid and furthermore that USA Hockey has failed to provide adequate support for the woman's program and are demanding reform. USA Hockey on the other hand has taken a stance that would suggest the demands from the women are unreasonable, and it appears they plan to field a team of backup players.

The argument against the women is a simple one, the interest in the women's game has always been noticeably lower than the interest in the men's game, and many believe that there are only two truly competitive countries in women's hockey.

This one seems like it's not over yet.
