While the Detroit Red Wings take to the ice for practice ahead of their matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes tonight at the Joe Louis Arena, there were two familiar faces lingering not too far away.

Martin Frk, who was claimed off of waivers roughly two weeks ago by the Hurricanes, and Andrej Nestrasil who experienced a similar fate in November of 2014. Both players had gone through the Red Wings’ developmental systems, though none figured to be a part of the team’s long-term success. Still, that did not stop many current players from taking the time to chat with their former teammates:

However, there was one important face present at practice today, and that is none other than Justin Abdelkader’s. While he was sidelined with a lower body injury last week, he is participating in the team’s training session but is rotating in and out of the fourth line. This indicates that he might not be ready to play as of yet, but we should receive confirmation from head coach Jeff Blashill soon enough.
