The Los Angeles Kings have seen some of their core players sidelined due to injury this season and that trend continued last Friday when star forward Anze Kopitar was dealt an injury.

Kopitar had already missed the King's game against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday due to the injury, and now according to a report from Helen Elliott of the Los Angeles Times, the Kings center will miss his second game tonight when the Kings face off against the Colorado Avalanche.

It's unclear how severe the injury to Kopitar is at this time, Darryl Sutter would only say that he remains day to day as far as the team is concerned. Notably though Kopitar has not so much as skated with the team since the initial injury, which could indicate that this injury may cost him more time down the road as well.

As the team's leading scorer for the past nine seasons there's no underselling how bad this is for Los Angeles.
