Update: Not looking good for Johnny Boychuk after crashing hard into the boards.

At the time of the injury we speculated that New York Islanders defenseman may have been seriously injured, the Islanders were just being too quiet about it.

While the team did not provide much of an update on Friday, it's certainly starting to look like the injury to Johnny Boychuk may in fact be serious. The Islanders have now placed Boychuk on injured reserve and what they did say was they would wait until team doctors had a chance to fully evaluate the injury before providing more details.

With that said, as you can see in the video below, the injury seems to be to the shoulder/neck area of Boychuk, and it certainly looks like he may have caused some serious harm to his body.
