The Vancouver Canucks have had some abysmal luck when it comes injuries to their elite players this season and unfortunately that trend appears to have continued this week.

On Thursday the Canucks revealed that star forward Brock Boeser was being sent back to Vancouver in order to see a specialist regarding a lingering groin injury and the initial outlook following that news was not positive. The expectations with Boeser being sent back to Vancouver was that he would miss some games as a result of the injury, and the updates being provided today appear to indicate that it may be much worse than that.

According to a report from Canucks reporter Dan Murphy of Sportsnet, Boeser has already had a chance to see the specialist and the news following that meeting does not appear to be good. Murphy has now confirmed that Boeser will miss the remainder of the Canucks' current road trip and additionally head coach Travis Green has reportedly listed Boeser as week to week as a result of this injury which would appear to indicate that he may be out much longer than that.

This is of course terrible news for a Canucks'/ organization that already lost star forward Elias Petterson to an injury earlier this season and now sees another of it's core players go down to injury. Through 13 games Boeser has had a tremendous impact for the Canucks in the 2018 - 2019 NHL regular season with 4 goals and 7 assists for a total of 11 points and it's unlikely that the Canucks will be able to adequetely replace him while he's out with this injury.

There does appear to be a silver lining here however, according to Murphy's report Boeser's current issue is that he has got irritation in his adductors. While that may not sound like good news for those of us on the outside looking in, head coach Travis Green did call it good news which may indicate that he was expecting something worse to come back from the specialist.

Boeser has not appeared in a game for the Canucks since the Novemeber 2nd contest when the Canucks faced off against the high scoring Colorado Avalanche.
